Woman Arrested For Assaults With Knife

A Lawrenceburg woman was arrested early Thursday after she allegedly attacked three people with kitchen knives inside her home.

Mandy Ann Smith, age 37, of 502 Claymar Drive was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of domestic assault.

Deputies with the sheriff’s department were dispatched to the home shortly after 4:00 a.m. after a 911 call was placed, reporting the stabbings.

Three victims reported that Smith had become involved in an argument with one of her guests and began to hit her. Later, while all three victims were sleeping in the living room, they said Smith attempted to wake them.

When they told her to go back to bed, they said she grabbed a baseball bat and began acting as if she was going to strike them.

Once the bat was wrestled away from her, the victims said Smith got a knife from the kitchen. The male victim said he was able to take the knife from her, but that she and another woman subsequently became involved in a physical altercation.

Smith reportedly grabbed a second knife and began attempting to stab the woman with whom she was scuffling.

When another woman stepped in, Smith allegedly stabbed her. While trying to disarm her a second time, the male sustained a cut to the hand.

One female victim was transported to Crockett Hospital for treatment for a serious laceration to her right triceps. Deputies reported seizing into evidence a knife found in the sink that was covered in blood.

Smith is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 7, 2013.
